(continued) Read
all you can on recovery. If you read a book and get one little suggestion that
might help, it was worth reading. Don’t limit
yourself to just reading those typical recovery related books, read books on
meditation, affirmations, health and exercise, spirituality, vitamins and herbs
to name just a few. Find something to
believe in other than yourself. Myself,
I believe in God, but that choice is yours. Last is that saying I think
everyone has heard, “Fake It Until You Make It!” Go to AA, NA or any of those other A’s,
listen to the people that have been in recovery for years, and find out what
has helped them. Learn anything helpful
that will lead to your own Recovery for
Success.
About me;
I will be 50 this coming July, "whew the big 50." I didn't think I'd make it this long.
I'm clean and sober. I have a beautiful loving wife, who is someone that I know loves me more than life itself. Let's just say its a feeling in the air that surrounds me everyday, 24/7. I can honestly say that I very much look forward to turning 50 and to the next fifty years of my life with my family.
We have two daughters Beth and Clare. Unfortunately there was another DeeDee who left us many years ago to be with her grandpa, and now grandma, in heaven. (I will talk about that and what it did to me in our blog.) The kids are grown and have left the house, but not our hearts, and we hear from them occasionally. We do have several more kids, one of which is the biggest baby I've ever seen. He is our border collie named Sunny. My wife named him Sunny because even on the cloudiest of days we have our sunshine. He is such a happy boy who sometimes when called will turn his upper lip over his teeth and smile as he run to us. I know on those down days he lifts me up. Okay, enough about Sunny. We also have several cats, a bunny and some fish. We are soon to have some miniature goats and a bunch of egg laying chickens.
We live in a beautiful house that has the slightest view of the bay in Puget Sound (Seattle, Washington). The house is a little beach cabin that was built onto and made larger years ago. It has beautiful wood siding, a bay window, french doors and a deck on the first and second floors. We have only lived here a few months now, but it is slowly turning into our little piece of heaven. It sat empty for over two years, so it needs a lot of work. It comes with enough property to have a large garden, some fruit trees and lots, lots, lots of flowers.
We both work from home. We own our own business, which has turned out to be more of a challenge than one would ever think. We are both in fair health - me with the past problems of addiction, cancer and having just gotten over treatment for liver disease. We exercise and for the most part take care of ourselves and eat right. We make sure to get our fruits and veggies along with a multivitamin and some choice supplements that I will also talk about later in the blog.
